CHIJMES Singapore
Earlier CHIJMES Singapore was a Girls school known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School. CHIJMES Singapore (known as ‘Chimes’) looks back to a former age. While school is no longer in session, this complex’s green yards, marble cascades, waterfalls and neoclassical structures makes it an incredible spot to loosen up.
Look at the capitals at the top of every chapel section. Every one bears a remarkable impression of tropical vegetation or birds.
The complex used to have an orphanage. Pay special attention to The Gate of Hope, which still remains on Victoria Street. It is the place where undesirable babies were left for the nuns to care of.
In the daytime, CHIJMES Singapore holds a feeling of tranquility and harmony, making it a serene desert spring in the midst of the clamor of the city. Around evening time, its energizing eating and nightlife alternatives spring to life, with bars that offer live music and cafés presenting everything from Spanish to Indian.
