The Maldives is the one destination where the transfer costs more than a night in the hotel and takes longer than the flight leg it follows. Resort choice and transfer type are a single decision, not two: a seaplane island and a speedboat island are different products even at the same star rating, and seaplanes do not fly after dark.

Resort islands and local island guesthouses
The classic one-island-one-resort product still dominates, but the local island guesthouse market has grown substantially and opens the destination to budgets that could never reach it before. Maafushi and the nearer atolls carry most of that stock, reachable by public ferry or speedboat.
Seaplane, speedboat or domestic flight
Transfer type dictates arrival timing and cost more than anything else in a Maldives booking. Late international arrivals cannot connect to a seaplane the same day, which means an unplanned night in Male if nobody checked. We flag it before it becomes a problem.
Frequently asked questions
Do you arrange seaplane and speedboat transfers?
Yes. Transfers are quoted with the resort because the two cannot sensibly be separated in the Maldives.
Can you book local island guesthouses as well as resorts?
Yes. The guesthouse market on Maafushi and the nearer atolls is well covered and suits tighter budgets.
What happens if a client arrives late at night?
Seaplanes do not operate after dark, so a late arrival usually needs a night in Male or a speedboat resort instead. We check this at the quoting stage.
