The Pinnacle@Duxton Singapore

The Pinnacle@Duxton Singapore

The Pinnacle@Duxton is a demonstration of Singapore’s creative approach to public housing and urban planning.

Constructed on the site of Singapore’s most established Housing Development Board (HDB) blocks, its plan and design both revitalizes the region and celebrates its historical significance.

A design rivalry was held and won by two neighborhood architectural firms, who cooperated to make basic and exquisite residences, utilizing precast technology.

Finished in 2009, the Pinnacle@Duxton is an example of how HDB goes up against the challenges of addressing housing needs in a urban setting. Its seven 50-story high towers ascend as high as skyscrapers and are connected at the 26th and 50th levels by skybridges. It is the HDB’s first residential project with sky bridges linked the towers.

High in the sky

Each skybridge is home to a 500-meter-long sky garden. Truth be told, a couple of records are set by The Pinnacle@Duxton: the world’s tallest public housing development and longest sky gardens.

The development has additionally won different honors, including the 2010 Best Tall Building Asia and Australasia award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, also the President’s Design Award For Design of the Year 2010. It’s latest honor was granted in 2019, by the Chicago based Council with respect to Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The development was praised for long term and extraordinary contributions to the urban condition, winning top spot in the honors’ 10-year category.
