Toa Payoh Dragon Playground Singapore

Toa Payoh Dragon Playground Singapore

The mythical dragon shaped sand-based play area used to be a famous structure for play areas in Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh Dragon playground Singapore.

After 1993, they were slowly removed because of safety reasons and it is assumed that this Toa Payoh  Dragon playground Singapore(situated at Blk 28 Toa Payoh Lorong 6) is one of its kind (sand-based) left in Singapore (The other two are laid with rubber mats).

The dragon play area was constructed in 1979 by Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) in-house planner Khor Ean Ghee, who got his motivation from the Oriental dragon usually observed among the Chinese group in Singapore.

The long body of the dragon is made of steel rails which creates a way for children to get inside dragon head.

Not far away at Blk 240 of Toa Payoh Lorong 1, there is another planned play area with a smaller drago, however its sandy ground is supplanted by elastic mats.
