Downtown Market in Budapest
Downtown Market has a long history going back to 1891 and has served the inhabitants of Pest well right up till the present time. It has been as of late renovated, changing it’s name from Hold Street Market to Downtown Market, or Belvárosi Piac as it’s known in Hungarian.
While holding its nineteenth century’s charm, it’s been spruced up and made completely accessible for disabled clients. The first ENTRANCE and EXIT engravings, still visible today which reminds about the market’s past.
The ground floor has many stalls which sells fresh products like fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy items and many local products, while the gallery level is home to various eateries serving their best local foods to local people and to travelers alike.
